Malaysian Chinese Fairy Tale Wedding - Chapter Five

Malaysian Chinese Fairy Tale Wedding - Chapter 5

Beauty in the eye of the beholder,

A marriage is always a perfect occasion for any lady to show up at their utmost best.

From childhood onwards we are spoon fed the idea that on any official joyous function, we have to put on our best attire.
(remember the Cinderella story? ......I doubt that if the fairy God mother didn't show up with a fancy dress and a pair of glass slippers, Cinderella would have even contemplated of attending the ball....:p)

You don't wanna know what kind of diet regimen the ladies were enduring, weeks prior to the wedding....trying to shed the, in their eyes, excessive pounds.
Skipping a meal or two, foregoing on sugary food (and knowing the sweet tooth of Malaysians, that must have been quite a torturous experience)

And the dresses themselves had to be unique for each and everyone, in sofar that some dresses were custom tailor-made, just for this occasion. I haven't even mentioned shoes.....you can imagine already...

Janice, keanwai's cousin sister, who happens to be a manicurist by profession, was roped in to beautify the toe and fingernails of each lady in our household. I didn't realize there are tons of colours to choose from.....quite shocking actually, how to make a choice...

She did a pretty good job, considering that she was constantly being glared and checked upon by everyone......come on, give her a break, she's helping you out and saving you some bucks!! :)

And furthermore, apart from the shiny fingernails........if you happen to wear 'closed' shoes on that function..........who's going to notice the toes anyway?
"Scratching my head"....some things are truly inexplicable, ....

The ladies even called upon the services of a make-up and hair artist to come to our casa to perform their magic.

Both working double time to transform each lady of the household into a picture perfect beauty

Thus, in short :

- Shedding some pounds or rather, (and keep this to yourself;) a pitiful of ounces only

- A sparkling fitting dress

- Bling bling shoes and accessories

- A new hair-do and a doze of make-up which would even make the Joker from Batman 'smile' more proudly :)

And combine all this....what do you get?  I'm telling you that our transformed ladies of the house would give 'Cinderella' a run for her money .....

All bets are off!!
