Malaysian Chinese Fairy Tale Wedding - Chapter One

Malaysian Chinese Fairy Tale Wedding - Chapter One

Food Scrutineers,

Jessica's beloved cousin brother, Keanwai Toh, was finally officially getting hitched after almost a decade-long courtship with his beloved Joanne Lai.

The auspicious date of which was already decided upon somewhere at the end of 2010, and thus slowly but surely preparations began to take place for the Big Day.

Venue was booked well in advance (1 year prior), and believe it or not, they only managed to obtain it in the nick of time, not surprisingly they were not the only ones with their mind set on tying up the knot on that particular day.

Part of the deal of booking that venue, is that the venue comes with a selected caterer of their own choice .......ermmmmm..... what?

Yuppa, the newly weds were not allowed to choose a caterer of their own, forcing them to digest the food of this particular caterer, Hao Xiang Chi restaurant located in the small remote village of Sekinchan, about a good hours drive from bustling Kuala Lumpur.

I didn't realize that Sekinchan is known for its good food, rather it's more known for its vast rice paddy fields and seafood, since the town is conveniently located next to the shore, but heck, if the venue organizers dictate that we have to pick this resto out, so be it....ying & yang....can't have everything, can we?

Naturellement, the bride & groom-to-be, and some family members were invited for a food tasting lunch and when food comes into the equation, you sure can count us in :p

Ladies of the house scrutineering the menu....as only ladies know how to do it

The dishes that would be served on the night of the wedding party itself were offered to us, the full works from appetizer, to the dishes that would make up the main course and a final stomach busting dessert.......:p

U can easily imagine that our stomachs were filled to the brim with all the goodies on offer.....

Albeit have to admit that some dishes didn't pass our scrutiny, too oily, too salty, too fat, whatever......ruffled up the head waitress to change the menu.

Are we that picky?

Come on, it's for a wedding, my wife's cousin brother no less.....and one is supposed to get married only once in his or her lifetime......so it must be special and taste as if the food comes from Heaven :)

The chefs from this resto better get their act together on the wedding eve!!!
