Unifying dumplings

Dumplings,

To be found in cuisines everywhere on this planet but evermore so in China......

I bet most of ya would think that the number one staple food of the Chinese is 'rice'.....but you are badly mistaken.....

Yes, I do agree that rice figures as number one in the Chinese cuisine, but for the Northern Chinese, that would be..."dumplings". Insofar that dumplings is their number one food instead of 'rice'.

Made from thin dough with a mix of minced meat and chopped vegetables as filling, it can be eaten either steamed or fried.

And as it happens, friends of the family, be they in Belgium or in Malaysia now, are indeed from the Northern regions of China.....which gives us a first-hand experience of what's so unique about the 'dumpling experience'.

I thought that dumplings are just dumplings,........... but it's not the act of eating them that makes the 'dumplings' experience so special.....it's actually the process of making them together with the family and friends, sharing the bondage of meticulously kneading, wrapping every single dumpling........

And when they are served steaming hot with a bit of vinegar and shreds of ginger and spring onions on the side........yummy, yummy......together reaping the benefits of making countless of them and savouring every single dumpling one by one.........

Might sound strange to you, but I vouch for it.......making and eating dumplings together unites the 'family' :)......give it a try
